It’s refreshing to hear a call to passion

Born during the closed months of Lebanese civil war, I was raised in a “traumatized” environment where I wasn’t able to inherit the best communication skills, mainly for what am feeling. I discovered my connection to the art field after attending NDU, for a bachelor of architecture, where the skill of sketching was needed to express personal ideas. After that period, I started taking a different approach to applying the techniques into a way of expressing emotions. The series am presenting “These Battle Scars” reflects a collective state of what’s behind these portraits. Expressions, feelings, pride, pain, grief, vulnerability .. are mostly the unseen scars that build us as beings. And as the recent years were full of confusion for our generation, dividing up and mapping the facial expressions around was highlighting a lot of emptiness in the eyes, nevertheless a lot of pride in the necks posture. I was experimenting to reflect this state of emptiness in some art pieces, the emptiness of the unknown, that there was no clear answer on how to fill this emotional gap. As the battle scars don’t aim to “fill this gap”, it just aims the viewer to “feel the gap”, connecting to each personal experience by itself…
