I've been painting Beirut cityscape since 2000. The Beirut I depicted in my paintings is an environment to which I am used to and I don not want to lose. It is familiar to me, since my childhood. When I leave this environment for a while, I always come back to it with some unexplained nostalgia. I wanted to give a luminous and radiant character to this environment; that Lebanese sun that overwhelms the city every day. This is the environment towards which I feel authenticity, security and grin. These houses that we see in the painting depict the countenance of a welcoming soul, a mysterious attraction, spontaneity and touching character. It is the soul-filling song of the houses, a sunny afternoon poetry.

Since I am young, I use to dream about cities and houses.
As an adult I wanted to become an architect and build homes but then that dream evolved into the affinity for painting cityscapes.
