Lara J. Trad

Art speaks where words fail.

MY PAINTINGS ARE MY DIARY. "I do not write my diary. I paint it." A secret she finally reveals. As a teenager, Lara found that writing her diary was risky. Using words was scary. Therefore she created her own encoded alphabet to make her script hard to decipher, nearly impossible to hack by strangers, protected and secure. Soon after, she forgot what she created with words so she started experimenting with abstract drawings & forms which later on became her refuge; stories & feelings embedded in abstract and surreal images, only she could read, yet people can still relate to.

Ori Bird

By Lara J. Trad

“Origami” originated from the Japanese language combining “ori” which means “to fold '' & “kami” which means “paper”, dating back to the 6th century. Traditionally, it was believed that if one folded a thousand origami cranes, one’s wish would come true. “Origami Bird” is a title that accommodates folds of personal life experiences. The words enclosed in this book are my thousand folded cranes quadrupled, in hopes of making my wish come true.
